Project management for a new direct sourcing system implementation
Uninterrupted business with Cargotec Hiab and Kalmar’s suppliers during the system replacement
Required data migration from the old system for historical continuation
Improved supplier communication (improved PPAP functionality)
The Direct Sourcing system used by Cargotec Hiab and Kalmar was approaching the end of life by January 2022 due to unsupported components. The decision was made to implement a replacing system, which should be up and running by the end of 2021.
Initially, there were two alternatives to replace the current system:
Implementing a short term solution, e.g. by Google tools
Selecting and installing a new Direct Sourcing software product
Alternative 2 was chosen. The chosen product was QLM, implemented by RGBSi.
Midagon acted as the program manager, including the following:
Program planning and management
Contribution to the selection and commercial contracting of the new system
Internal communication
Budget follow-up
After replacing the old system with a new direct sourcing system QLM (Quality Lifecycle Management), Hiab and Kalmar units are equipped with a modern sourcing system for non-conformity management, supplier scorecards and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process). The project was delivered within budget and planned schedule, enabling Hiab and Kalmar to continue their business with suppliers uninterrupted.
